Patients more than 12 hours at the nearest major A&E, every council ranked
The share of patients at the major A&E nearest to where people here live who were there more than 12 hours before being admitted, transferred or sent home. It is the hospital’s figure, not one for the council: several councils can share one A&E. Figures for September 2026, published for 318 councils in England and Wales. Lowest first: the order says where a council sits, not whether that is good.
Lowest: Cherwell, 1%. The council in the middle: Newark and Sherwood, 11.3%. Highest: Wrexham, 27%.
