Gas and electricity on the gas grid, a month, every council ranked

What the middle home on the gas grid here uses, charged at the price cap. The use is this council's median for gas and for electricity on a standard meter; the rates are the same across Great Britain, so what differs between places is how much energy homes use. Northern Ireland is charged at its regulated tariffs instead. Its gas is a mean, not a median. Figures for 2024 use, 2026 prices, published for 358 councils in the UK. Lowest first: the order says where a council sits, not whether that is good.

Lowest: Islington, £116 a month. The council in the middle: North Kesteven, £144 a month. Highest: Elmbridge, £181 a month.
